Latest News from Prince Arthur

Hi everyone,

I write to you from the isolation of my second home set in beautiful countryside (well actually from my shed at the end of the garden!) I hope you’re all keeping safe and well.

You are probably wondering what’s happening to the club and the situation we find ourselves in. The club at the moment is set to weather this troubling time. This is due to the constant hard work of Trevor Hill, the club’s treasurer, who has been in touch with all the government, local council and bowls organisations that are offering financial support. This will take time to materialise. However, with our current financial position, there is no need for any panic at this stage. When we are able to re-open the club and our position is clearer, we can take the appropriate steps to return the club and the business side into line, as we were prior to the March 17th closure. Even when lock down restrictions are eased/lifted, I am sure we (bowls clubs and sports facilities etc) will not be included in the early stages of the return programme.

Pleased be assured, yours and the clubs’ interests are continually being monitored. The Board of Directors is working behind the scenes. Stay safe and well. Keep following the guidelines set out for our safe return.

As I said before, you must be saving loads of money, but don’t worry, I have a cunning plan as to how we can spend it (no not on toilet rolls!) Watch this space – you will enjoy it.

TO ALL MEMBERS

Hi everyone. I hope you are all keeping safe and well. As you know, I decided to close the club on Tuesday 17th March following government guidelines. I would like to make clear the exact position we are in at the moment.

All activities in the club are suspended or cancelled and that includes the AGM scheduled to take place on the 8th April. This will take place ASAP when it is safe to re-open the club. Therefore I will remain as Chairman until it is deemed wise to reopen the club and hold the AGM. Trevor Hill is continuing as Treasurer during this time also. All the directors will stay in contact with each other either by phone or email.

We all know that these are difficult times and we are doing our utmost to carry on with the business of the club. The maintenance and cleaning still needs to be done as well as the administration. Please do not contact the office or visit the club.

On a lighter note, you can play bowls in your garden and you’ll save loads of money! That won’t help though as you can’t spend it anyway and you’ll still have me as your Chairman! (Will I ever get out of it?) Now doesn’t that brighten your day?

Please keep safe and well. We want to see you back fit and ready.

Dave Elliott

Score cards - Winter Internal Leagues

Just 4 weeks into the season and we are already experiencing problems with the completion of scorecards.

Players names must consist of Initial, Surname and be clearly legible.

If they are missing or unreadable Monitors are duty bound to return them to the Office who forward them to the Team Leaders to be corrected. Team Leaders then correct them and send them back to the office for return to Monitor. A complete waste of time for everybody.

Please do not sign a card unless all players names, home and away, are entered correctly.

Prince Arthur Road Indoor Bowls Club was founded in 1989 and has one of the largest playing areas in the Kent area with 8 rinks.

It gives the opportunity for all members, including those with a disability, in the Medway and surrounding areas to play bowls all year round.

The Winter season commences at the end of September and culminates with Club Finals and presentations in Mid April.

We then continue with the Summer programme which runs from the end of April to Mid September.

The club has a full programme of bowling to suit all ages and ability ranging from Internal Leagues, Club, National and County Competitions,
Organised Roll Ups and Casual Play.

For the Social bowlers there can be as many as three matches at weekends against external clubs from the South East of England.
Many of these are meal matches that include a fabulous meal provided by our experienced catering team.

The club is situated in Prince Arthur Road, Brompton, Gillingham.  Directions are available in the how to find us section.

We have ample free parking and the buses stop just outside the club.  Regular coaching sessions are held by our fully qualified coaches.

We are always pleased to see new members and visitors.  For further information please visit the Membership page.
