The rumour is true………“WE ARE OPEN AGAIN! - Monday 31/08/20.

After almost 6 months of lockdown / shutdown, bowling returned today, Mon 31/08/20, as PARIBC re - opened its doors and green for business.  Hurrah!

New Chairman(lady), Glynis Whatman and the board of Directors, have been very busy over the last month or so, working very hard to implement all the measures required, to get the Club back up and running, in as safe as can be, mode, so that some form of normality, or as near as possible, can be restored.  Particular mention must be given to the hard work and efforts of Mike Williams, who was O.I.C. of the specific task of operation “PARIBC re-start”, overseeing all that was needed and required, to ensure that the Club met and complied with all the Govt., legislation and rules and regs, etc., that often changed, on a weekly basis.  And no doubt, as the weeks progress, things will change even more, hopefully for the better, but uncertain times, mean that future possible local area lockdowns, (something out of the Club’s control), could happen, so we have to be aware of this and will cross that bridge, if / when, we come to it.

The Club looks forward to welcoming back all its members and as the song goes, “All you’ve got to do is call”………and book your rink, or place at the roll up, it really is that simple!  However the Club recognises that each individual member will be different and it is understandable that they will make their own decisions about if / when they come back to bowling, depending on how safe they feel and also, how safe they think the bowling environment is, etc., etc.  All I can say, is that the Club, to the best of its ability, has put in place the required, (and more), measures, to ensure that the standards are met and bowling can resume safely.  But if you do have any worries / concerns re - the reopening, then feel free to raise these with any of the Directors.

As you can see from the photos below, (taken by Patricia Wells), today was a mix of pairs and triples, across 5 rinks, but there is plenty of space available, both on and off the green, for the social distancing measures to be in place and with common sense and by following the Club guidelines, enjoyable bowling and socialising, should be easily possible  A return to which, after six months, of as good as near complete isolation for many, is very, very, welcome.  And it was also nice to hear the general comment of, “Isn’t it good to be back”, or words to the effect, emanating from all rinks.  Thanks are due to all those who have volunteered to run the front desk and also help on the tea runs, (but more volunteers are still required), with these rolls today, filled by a trio of lovely ladies, namely, Linda Barnett, Sonia Bignell and Linda Hoare.

Kind regards, Tim Fletcher.

Wednesday Evening 2nd September.

Some members have approached the club about not being able to form a four or triple when booking.

It is proposed for the above date that members whether single, fours or triples book for that date and we will treat it as a roll up "get to know you" type bowl. Phone the club to book your place or team. You must book not just turn up.

BOOKING RINKS

To all members

The club will be open from Monday the 31st August for members to resume bowling.  In the initial period sessions will be 09.30 till 12.00 and 13.00 to 15.30 Monday to Friday and 18.30 till 21.00 on Wednesday evening.

To follow the criteria you must be pre booked in by a staff member over the phone and they will confirm your booking, whilst the club is open, between 10.00 to 12.00 Monday to Friday.  Your booking should be for a group of four or six to make full use of the available numbers allowed.

Wednesday morning session will be a roll up but again members need to book by phone and only 30 bowlers are permitted. Your place will be confirmed when you phone.  Excess numbers will be offered automatic booking the next week.

A copy of the full rules and procedures will be on the web site and e-mailed out later this week but you can book from Friday.

You cannot just turn up to bowl, you must be booked in.  These are the initial procedures and after the 31st bookings will only be possible six days in advance.

Booking criteria may change once members usage has been established.  Volunteers are needed to cover the front desk at each session.  If you are available to help please let us know.

DAVE HOOD

HERE IS THE LATEST MESSAGE FROM SUE SMITH

"Myself and Marc were able to visit Dave today at his new place in Minster.

He looked really well and very chatty.  He still has a certain amount of memory loss but then he will surprise you with what he does know and his cheeky sense of humour.

He remembers the club and Potters so if you would like to visit Dave , which I'm sure he would love, just call the number below and arrange a time and day to visit.  The visit will be outside in the courtyard at a sociable distance, if its a lovely day its a good view over the water !

Keep Safe !
