SAT 19/04/24 – EASTER FUN DAY PAIRS.
28 people hopefully enjoyed the Easter, “almost fun?”, pairs comp., held at the Club on Sat 19/04/25 and huge thanks to Dave Sutherland for stepping in at the last minute dot com, due a no show, (whose name was down as 6th on the original call up sheet!), to ensure the numbers were even and all the planning, (what planning?), didn’t go to waste. But regardless of that, no matter how much organising, (virtually none to be honest!), goes into these things, they only work if people sign up, so really do appreciate all who came along! And more importantly, it puts some much needed dosh into the Club coffers, on what would have been an otherwise blank Sat. Welcome also to new member John Eaton, who stayed to watch the whole afternoon unfold and ta ever so, to supporters and top chatterer’s, Julia Edwards and Fran Sutherland for taking him under their wing!
All present, played 22 ends of differing formats of bowls, playing with different partners throughout and from all that madness, we had a top lady and top gent bowler, these being Joanna Green and Kevin Mooney respectively, so well done to them! Runners up being Madge Head and Eddy Bell. Phil Green won the spider, the Green family, as a whole, won nearly all the raffle prizes, (and then forgot to take them home!), whilst gran Gwen and grandson Jack, also filled both last places in the comps., (top left handed bowling and wrong biases aside!),….so as you can see, PARIBC really doing its bit for the environment, by going full on, Green! Rose Bell and Elaine Beard both turned up with homemade Easter bonnets, but only Rose’s remained on all afternoon and apparently hubby Eddy, said she intended to wear this, till her Chrimbo outfit is ready! On the bowls front, Dave Cook is now looking for any set of woods, whatever size, that works, whilst wife Val, is begging him to buy her a set of size 5’s, heavy. Can anybody help?! Thanks to Max in the kitchen for the tea and biccies and thanks to Joanna Green for taking the pics of the day, which you can see below and yet more thanks to all those who brought in their 1p, 2p and 5p, shrapnel, for the pot. I’m just off for a lie down, before the next Bank Hols event, which in keeping with the Club’s environmental policy, will be a fully blown, recycled, affair, so expect a lot of Easter eggs as prizes! And yes people, those hot cross buns were in date…just…ho, ho!
