Wednesday 9th April – PARIBC Ladies v Oyster

For our penultimate game in the Ladies KITL, we made our way to Whitstable yesterday, 9 April 2025 to play the ladies from Oyster.

As usual we were greeted with a warm welcome and the game was played in a very friendly atmosphere.  We had, within our company, Mr Marc Carr, who was called upon within the rules of  KITL, to play for us.

Earlier in the season we had a good win against Oyster so were hoping for a good result again, especially as we are top of the league with one game to play against Swale.

After a slow start we were only winning on one rink but we were gradually bringing down the shot difference, and after 9 ends the overall difference was only 7 shots to Oyster.  During the second half of the game we managed to haul back those shots and steadily increase our lead.

By the end of the game we not only had a 17 shot win, but also 3 winning rinks, which meant we  achieved 10 points.  An extremely pleasing result.

Final score:   Prince Arthur 108   Oyster 91

Thank you to Jeanne Bingham for stepping in to play at short notice.

Our final game in the league is away at Swale on Wednesday, 16 April 2025.  As mentioned earlier this game could decide whether we win the league so your support is welcome.

Wednesday 2nd April – PARIBC Ladies v Swale

We welcomed the ladies and two gentlemen from Swale to Prince Arthur yesterday, 2 April 2025 and hoped for a good win to keep us challenging for first spot in the league.

Swale started well and after 7 ends had a 3 shot lead, however, at 12 ends we had managed to reverse and add to the shot difference with a lead of 17 shots.  We were winning on 4 rinks, drawing on 1 and losing on the other.

We maintained our dominance over the next few ends and had increased our lead to 42 shots by the fifteenth end and finally finished with a 30 shot difference.

Final score:   Prince Arthur 114  Swale 84

We won on 5 rinks out of the 6 played, which meant we gained 14 points for the game.

Our thanks to Gemma and Maxine for providing our meal.

Our next match in the league is away at Oyster next Wednesday, 9 April, 2025 at 2.30 p.m

The coach leaves at 1.15 p.m.

We play Swale again on 16 April, away this time, and our final match of the season.  If you haven’t already done so, and you are available, then please put your name down for this important game.

Wednesday 12th March – PARIBC Ladies v Sevenoaks

We welcomed the ladies of Sevenoaks Bowls Club on Wednesday, 12 March 2025 for our fourth meeting of the season. Having won two of the previous three encounters we hoped for another win.

Our visitors started very well and had a good shot lead after the first few ends and this pattern continued as the match progressed, until we at last managed to gain a 3 shot lead after 9 ends. The lead then seesawed during the next few ends but by 15 ends we had gained a lead of 10 shots. Over the final 3 ends we managed to increase our lead to 14 shots.

Final Score:  Prince Arthur 103  Sevenoaks  89

We shared the rink wins, giving both clubs 6 points each. However, for the overall win we gained another 4 points making a total of 10 points for us.

Our thanks to Heather Allen who came in at short notice to play, and an even bigger thank you to Fred Linger who was called at 1.50 pm to play (even giving up his usual afternoon nap)!

We enjoyed a meal from Gemma and Maxine after the match, which received very appreciative remarks from members of both clubs.

Our next game is away at Oyster on Wednesday, 9 April at 2.30 pm. The coach will leave the club at 1.15 pm.

Wednesday 26th February – PARIBC Ladies v Sevenoaks

Yesterday, Wednesday, 26 February, 2025 we travelled to Sevenoaks Ladies.  When we were there in December we had a very good win so our hope was to keep our winning streak of games going.  Unfortunately, our bubble burst!

During the first few ends we managed to keep up with Sevenoaks and during the middle section of the game we actually had a slight lead, but by the time we had reached 15 ends Sevenoaks had gained a substantial 25 shot lead. They continued to bowl well with an eventual shot difference of 33.

Final score:   Prince Arthur 80  Sevenoaks 113

Of the 6 rinks played, we won on 1 and lost the other 5, gaining 2 points.

We next meet Sevenoaks in two weeks’ time at home on Wednesday, 12 March, so there is our chance to reverse the outcome of yesterday’s match.

Our next game is a friendly at home to White Oak on Wednesday, 5 March, 2025.

Please note the earlier start time of 1.00 p.m.

Again I’m pleased to say that we played well and managed a good shot lead of 16 after 7 ends with only 1 rink out of 6 losing.  We maintained our dominance over the next few ends and had increased our lead to 38 shots by the fifteenth end and finally finished with a 35 shot difference.

Final score:   Prince Arthur 112  Swale 77

Like last week against Oyster, we won on 4 rinks, and lost on 2 which meant we gained 12 points for the game.

Again I’m pleased to say that we played well and managed a good shot lead of 15 after 5 ends. This lead had increased to an impressive 48 shots by the time we had reached 10 ends and continued until the end of the game,

Final score:   Prince Arthur 128  Oyster 65

Of the 6 rinks played, we won on 4, and lost on 2 which meant we gained 12 points for the game.

Wednesday 18th December – PARIBC Ladies v Oyster

For our last game of 2024 we welcomed the ladies from Oyster to Prince Arthur.  Unfortunately, Oyster could only bring 5 rinks which was disappointing and meant three of our ladies stepped down for this game.  Our thanks to Lina Foster, Carole Coultard and Lynette Stock for doing so.

Again I’m pleased to say that we played well and managed a good shot lead of 22 after 6 ends. Although Oyster decreased this lead a little over the next few ends, we pushed on and won by 24 shots at the end of the game.

Final score:   Prince Arthur 89  Oyster 65

Of the 5 rinks played, we won on 3, and lost on 2.  We gained 10 points for the game and another 2 points for the rink Oyster did not bring.

Our thanks to Gemma and Maxine for providing our meal and to Sue for the bar service.

Our next game in the league is away at Oyster on Wednesday, 8 January, 2025.  The coach leaves at 1.15 pm as the game commences at 2.30 pm.

Wednesday, 11 December – PARIBC Ladies v Sevenoaks

On Wednesday, 11 December, 2024 we travelled to Sevenoaks Ladies.  When these ladies came to Prince Arthur on 30 October, we had a good win so we were keen to see if we could do the same away.

We started very well having a 30 shot lead after 7 ends and although Sevenoaks fought back and managed to reduce this lead, we won by 16 shots.

Final score:   Prince Arthur 104  Sevenoaks 88

Of the 6 rinks played, we won on 4, lost on 2 gaining 12 points.

Thank you to Roger Bingham, Tim Fletcher and Bob Louden for playing as we were short of ladies.

Wed 4th December – Ladies KITL: PARIBC Ladies = 103 v Whiteoak = 79

Yesterday, 4 December, 2024 we made our way to Swanley to play White l Oak Ladies for our second away game against them this season.  On our visit on 9 October we lost by 16 shots.

Under the rules of the league, as we were unable to get 18 ladies to play, we enlisted the help of 3 gentlemen namely Dave Cook, Bob Louden and James (Dave) Sutherland.  Thank you gents for playing and hope you enjoyed joining us.  As James (Dave) was playing on my team as Lead, I can report I chalked his woods on two occasions!  The other Dave, however, managed a wrong bias and this cost him a £1 (please note Tim) for our coffers.

Also a special mention and thank you to Margaret King, who although playing in the Wednesday Roll Up, agreed to come and play for us in the afternoon.

As for the match, the green appeared to be much slower than Prince Arthur’s and required more adjustment than we were used to, but at 7 ends we had a lead of 13 shots and were winning on 4 out of the 6 rinks playing.

We managed to increase this lead to 20 shots at 12 ends and finally won by 24 shots, winning on 3 rinks, drawing 1 and losing on 2.

Final score:   Prince Arthur 103  White Oak 79

A very pleasing result and a reversal of the game in October giving us 11 points to White Oak’s 5.

Our next game is also away when we travel to Sevenoaks ladies on Wednesday, 11 December, 2024. The coach leaves at 12.30 pm

Wed 27th November – Ladies KITL: PARIBC Ladies = 120 v Whiteoak = 76

We welcomed the ladies of White Oak Bowls Club on Wednesday, 27 November 2024 and started very well with a good shot lead after the first few ends and this pattern continued as the match progressed.
By 10 ends we had an advantage of a 29 shot lead and were winning on 5 out of the 6 rinks being played. The lead increased steadily over the final 8 ends with an excellent result for us.
Final Score: Prince Arthur 120 White Oak 76
Overall shot difference 44, with wins on 5 rinks.
This meant we scored 14 points out of a possible 16.
We enjoyed a meal from Gemma and her team after the match and our thanks also to our ladies who helped serve the drinks.
We now travel to White Oak for a return match this Wednesday, 4 December 2024, to see if we can continue with our winning form away from home.
This game commences at 2.30 pm and the coach leaves Prince Arthur at 1.15 pm

Wed 13/11/2024 – Ladies KITL: PARIBC Ladies = 107 v Oyster = 86

For our fourth game in the Ladies KITL, we made our way to Whitstable yesterday, 13 November,2024 to play the ladies from Oyster.

As usual we were greeted with a warm welcome and the game was played in a very friendly atmosphere.  We had, within our company, Mr Tim Fletcher, who was called upon within the rules of  KITL, to play for us. Thank you Tim for supporting us – hopefully it wasn’t too traumatic!

On this occasion we managed a good start and led by 10 shots after 6 ends with only one of our 6 rinks losing – it just happened to be the one I was on!

We managed to increase our lead over the next few ends and held a very good 24 shot lead at the tea break.  Oyster did challenge us after the break and the difference in the overall score dipped to only 10 shots at one point.

However, we overcame their challenge and won overall by 21 shots.

Final score:   Prince Arthur 107  Oyster 86

Of the 6 rinks played, we won on 4, drew 1 and lost on 1 gaining 13 points.

On Sunday we were due to play Swale but they have unfortunately cancelled, so we now play the ladies from KCLIBA on Thursday, 21 November in a friendly match.

Our next game in the league is at home to Whiteoak on Wednesday, 27 November, 2024.

PS I have been notified, and it has been verified, that two of the ladies from Oyster did comment on Tim’s legs – maybe they should have been concentrating on the game but advantageous to ourselves as proven by the win!

Wed 30/10/2024 – Ladies KITL: PARIBC Ladies = 99 v Sevenoaks = 75

For our first home game in the new KITL league, we welcomed the ladies of Sevenoaks Bowls Club on Wednesday, 30 October 2024.

Our visitors started very well and had a slight shot lead after the first few ends and this pattern continued as the match progressed, until we at last managed to gain a 3 shot lead after 10 ends.  From then on we took control of the game and increased our lead considerably by the time we reached the final ends.

Final Score:  Prince Arthur 99  Sevenoaks 75

A very pleasing 24 shot difference, with wins on 3 rinks, 1 draw and 2 losses.

This meant we scored 11 points out of a possible 16 and our first win of the season.

Our thanks to Lynette Stock who came in at short notice to play.

We enjoyed a meal from Gemma and her team after the match and our thanks also to Katie for managing the bar.

Wed 09/10/24 – Ladies KITL: Whiteoak Ladies = 106 v PARIBC Ladies = 90

Yesterday, 9 October, 2024 we made our way to Swanley to play Whiteoak ladies on our second away match of the season in the new Kent Invicta Triples League (KITL).

Last Saturday we only lost by 1 point against Swale so were hoping for our first win.

The green appeared to be much slower than Prince Arthur’s and required more adjustment than we were used to, but at 5 ends we were only 5 shots behind and were winning on 3 out of the 6 rinks playing.

However, Whiteoak managed to gain a 17 shot lead by the time we had reached 10 ends but within the next 2 ends we had decreased this deficit to 8 shots.  Unfortunately, we couldn’t sustain this pressure and although there were some tight battles taking place on several rinks, we finally lost by 16 shots.

Final score:   Prince Arthur 90  Whiteoak 106

As we had to finish the game by 5.30 pm, disappointingly only 3 rinks completed the full 18 ends whilst the others played 17 ends.

We gained 4 out of a possible 16 points as we won on 2 rinks.

Our next game is at home when we welcome Sevenoaks ladies on Wednesday, 30 October, 2024.
